I spent an afternoon with Jim Hilliard in Fort Worth, Texas back in 2019. Jim was a star athlete at UT Austin during his college years, one of the top orthopedic surgeons in Texas, married to a former Miss Texas, and about to head into retirement when everything changed.

He was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease.

Thoughts of skiing in the Rockies, golfing at Pebble Beach, and vacationing with his wife and seeing his kids came to a halt.

While Jim could not control his circumstances, he did begin to think about his years of being an atheist and finding a bigger hope spiritually later on in life.

Jim passed away in September, 2021.
